When In Doubt, Add Butter

Feel-Good Chick Lit for foodies

Ok, so I was drawn to this book for its cover and title, but also for its ability to make me laugh and appreciate private chefs, as I read further.

In When in Doubt, Add Butter, we meet Gemma a single 37-year-old private chef with 6 steady clients, all of which have their own quirks that make Gemma’s job…interesting. Gemma is drawn to 1 client in particular, “Mr. Tuesday”, a man she’s never met but is her Tuesday client. Cooking is predictable, but life is not, and Gemma is about to discover how these worlds can collide.

This book was fun and lighthearted, with just the right amount of character development for me. Meeting clients with different personalities— adding to the pressures of being a private chef— kept me reading.

For foodies and fans of Sophie Kinsella, add this one to your list.
